One Month In: Why Public Safety Cloud Standards Exists

It’s hard to believe it has already been one month since I introduced Public Safety Cloud Standards.

A month ago, I shared why I started PSCS. Today, I wanted to come back to that message, because the why matters.

After 17 years on the vendor side of public safety, I made the decision to go on my own and advocate directly for agencies as cloud adoption continues to accelerate.

I have seen firsthand that moving to the cloud is about far more than technology.

Many agencies today are thinking about moving to the cloud, being encouraged to migrate, or considering a switch to a cloud-hosted provider. Those are big decisions, and agencies deserve clarity before they make them.

Why PSCS Was Founded

That is why I founded Public Safety Cloud Standards.

PSCS exists to help agencies better understand what they are buying, what they are agreeing to, and what questions they should be asking before, during, and after a cloud transition.

Having spent nearly two decades on the vendor side, I understand where contract language can create ambiguity, where expectations can become misaligned, and where operational realities may differ from the way things are presented in sales discussions.

My goal is to help bring clarity, accountability, and better alignment to a major shift happening across public safety.

What That Looks Like in Practice

Public Safety Cloud Standards is focused on helping agencies move forward with confidence through:

• Measurable uptime standards
• Validated RPO/RTO commitments
• Disciplined disaster recovery expectations
• Clear shared responsibility models

At the end of the day, this is about helping agencies be informed, protected, prepared, and united with vendors around the needs of public safety.

One Month Later

One month in, I’m as confident as ever that this conversation needs to be happening.
